The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has given Lutech Engineering Liberia Ltd. a USD 150,830 contract to supply and deliver tools and equipment to the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) Warehouse in an effort to increase operational capacity within Liberia's power sector.
In line with national initiatives to improve electricity regulation, dependability, and accessibility, the contract is a component of the Liberia Electricity Sector Strengthening and Access Project (LESSAP), which is funded by the International Development Association (IDA) under credit number IDA-68500.
The contract, designated LR-LEC-492386-GO-RFB, was given out after a Request for Bids (RFB) procurement procedure. On November 3, 2025, the formal award notification was sent out, with a three-month contract implementation period.
In order to improve the LERC's operational and regulatory capabilities, Lutech Engineering Liberia Ltd. will supply necessary technical tools, testing apparatus, and maintenance supplies under this contract. It is anticipated that these resources will enhance Liberia's electricity distribution network's efficiency, monitoring, and enforcement capabilities.
Several foreign bidders were drawn to the tender, including Beijing GFUVE Electronic Co. Ltd. (China), Gamma Power Distribution Limited (Ghana), and Captain Elect-Link (Ghana), all of whom were subsequently deemed unresponsive during the evaluation phase.
At the assessed and signed price of USD 150,830, Lutech Engineering Liberia Ltd. emerged as the successful and compliant bidder, winning the final contract.
Lutech Engineering Liberia Ltd., a locally registered business with its headquarters in Monrovia, specialises in engineering, procurement, and supply services for the infrastructure and energy industries. The company has established itself as a crucial partner in Liberia's continuous efforts to fortify its power systems due to its expanding track record in technical solutions and project delivery.
The World Bank-funded Liberia Electricity Sector Strengthening and Access Project (LESSAP) aims to improve electricity access and the power utility's performance through energy efficiency initiatives, regulatory capacity building, and infrastructure upgrades.
The government's commitment to improving institutional performance, guaranteeing safe and dependable electricity regulation, and increasing access to reasonably priced power for communities across the country is reaffirmed by this most recent contract award.
The project will help the LERC monitor compliance and enhance service delivery in Liberia's energy sector, with the tools and equipment supply anticipated to be finished in three months.
